As with the Digital Photon Tunneling Microscope, we present the following archival information as hopefully interesting Company history.  This was a hand-held near-field microscope.

Trident PTM

For surfaces that are too rough or scattering for our PTM but too smooth for other profiling instruments, we have developed the Trident PTM.

Trident, like PTM, also images surfaces with the evanescent light of tunneling photons.  However, its near-field optics are configured like a dark-field microscope, so that it  images with the photons that are scattered back from scattering samples.  Paper, painted surfaces, fabrics, aeronautical metal surfaces, textured surfaces for LCD screens, and many other samples are quickly and quantitatively profiled in 3-D with Trident.

Trident has a "kinematic" base that automatically places the curved near-field imaging optic proximal to the sample, in perfect focus.  You simply hold Trident like you would a computer mouse, and move it around the sample.  With our PTM software and laptop, Trident is completely portable.
